DOOR TO HEAVEN
Sculpture-painting (acrylic, 24k gold, silver and oxidised brass leaf) on wood and marble. Installation with mirror.
Door to Heaven is a big artwork, in which the artist experiments a fusion between marble and wood to create a sort of mosaic. It was exhibited for the first time at Bait Al Zubair museum during the exhibition "Tales from Eden" in 2019.
The tradition of beautiful Omani doors is captured in this artwork,
opening the way to a place as beautiful as the garden of Eden.
The rich use of gold and other metals, combined with the royal brightness
of different shades of turquoise and other colours, give a precious aura to the subject.
It too shows Oliva's concept of "body and soul": an artwork that consists in a tangible side
and an ethereal one that complete each other.
None of them exist without the other: two inseparable halves of the same entity.
